Ministry of Environment and Jordan Kuwait Bank Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On 12/3/2020, the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and Jordan Kuwait Bank (JKB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Bank’s Head Office. The MoU is to establish an environmental park in Zuboud forest / Hisban area, with the aim of cooperation and coordination to embody the partnership between the public and private sectors in order to take care of and preserve forested areas in the Kingdom. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Environment, H.E. Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh and JKB’s Chairman, Mr. Abdel Karim Kabariti with the attendance of the Ministry of Environment’s Secretary General and Jordan Kuwait Bank’s General Manager and senior staff from both sides. On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Kharabsheh stated: “The establishment of this park comes in line with the Ministry of Environment’s aim to offer citizens suitable picnic areas alongside spreading environmental awareness in an effort to reduce littering to preserve and sustain the environment”.Dr. Kharabsheh praised Jordan Kuwait Bank’s management for its response and cooperation to preserve the aesthetic and environmental aspects of different areas in the Kingdom, and that it is voluntary work as well as national duty that everyone is responsible for, and that requires joint efforts to maintain a clean and pollution free environment.On his part, Jordan Kuwait Bank’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Kabariti said: “We decided to fund this important project as it comes in line with the Bank’s Social Responsibility efforts and strategy to actively participate in combatting the environmental challenges facing the Country, put an end to littering and finding effective solutions, and committing to safeguarding the environment for future generations”.Kabariti added: “Jordan Kuwait Bank’s social responsibility activities and efforts are an embodiment of its corporate identity and social role alongside its financial and economic role in the banking sector and represents an important pillar in its mission to achieve sustainable development”.It is worth noting that the Bank will fund the costs related to this project and cover operational costs to ensure sustainability and provide the best of services to the park’s visitors. The part will be built on a 30-donum plot of land which will house green spaces, walkways, kids’ play areas and attention to other facilities.
